Rams advanced in CCCAA regionals, await rematch with West Valley in next round

The Fresno City College baseball team advanced to the next round of the CCCAA Northern California regionals after defeating Sierra and Merced on May 1-3.
The Rams faced Sierra, which lost to Merced 8-3 in the opening game.
Fresno City eliminated Sierra after a convincing 11-2 victory, supported by Nathan Leffel's solid pitching.
He pitched six innings, scattering five hits, allowing two runs, and striking out eight batters.
Drake Davis led the charge by hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, giving his team a 3-0 lead.
Isac Mandujano finished with three RBI for Fresno City.
The Rams continued their charge behind two RBIs each from Gilbert Acosta, Dallan Alles, and Tyler O'Toole.
Fresno City continued its momentum in the regionals, defeating Merced 7-2 and 12-2.
In the 12-2 win, Acosta, Alles, Noble Ortega, and O'Toole each drove in two runs.
Wyatt Johnson pitched six innings, allowing five hits and two runs to record the win.
Next up for Fresno City is the rematch of last season's regionals finals, which the Vikings won before advancing to the state tournament.
The best-of-3 series is set to begin on Thursday. First pitch will be announced later.
