Fresno City College wrestlers earn podium finish at CCCAA finals, Rams finish third
Fresno City College put on a strong performance at the California Community College Athletic Association wrestling championship, held Dec. 13-14 at Sierra College in Rocklin, despite not capturing the team title.
The Rams finished third overall, earning 111.5 points.
Leading the way were freshmen Alijah Ortiz (125 pounds) and LJ Loreto (149 pounds), who both reached the finals in their respective weight classes. Their efforts were crucial in securing a top-three team finish and underscored the strength of Fresno City's underclassmen.
Fresno City trailed only Mt. San Antonio and Cerritos in the final team standings.
The matchup against Mt. San Antonio brought added intrigue, as the two programs had already faced off during the state duals on Nov. 23 at Fresno City. In that earlier meeting, the Rams battled hard but ultimately fell to the Mounties, who went on to win the state championship.
